After years of physically demanding work on fishing and freight boats, Harold was looking for a solution to the pain in his knees. Dr. Joe Timulty of James Patton Memorial Hospital in Gander replaced his left knee in 1998 and his right in 1999. "People don't want to get it done because they're scared, but I'd do it again if I had to - it's for the comfort afterward. I can do anything I did before!" A faithful fundraiser for Hip Hip Hooray!, Harold explains, "I benefited from what others did before me, so I'm passing the favour forward."
